Who Am I?

Hi! I'm Jinghui (Albert) Yang (杨景辉). You may pronounce my name as "Jeeng-whee."

I am a first-year PhD student in math at the University of Pennsylvania. Email: yangjh@sas.upenn.edu

I received my B.S. in math from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, May 2021, and my M.S. in math from the University of Oxford, Jul 2022 (Thesis: Homotopy Groups of Spheres in Homotopy Type Theory).

I am interested in the homotopy theory. In particular, I am interested in topics in algebraic K-theory, and chromatic/equivariant/motivic (stable) homotopy theory.

Work Experience

Asset Management Intern Jun-Sep 2021

I was engaged in investment banking at the Department of Asset Management, Guoyuan Securities Co. The main task is to analyze market conditions, select the best investment portfolio for clients, and assist in managing various asset management projects. I created a program to analyze several indicators of private equity funds (such as the Sharpe ratio).

My Research
  • Currently I am reading the computation about \( K(n) \)-local spheres. This is an exciting new result in homotopy theory that appeared in February this year. Click here for the arXiv preprint.
  • Also, I am reading the theory about chromatic redshift. Apart from those, the following are the other projects I carried on for Spring 2024.

      • I will give a talk about the classical approach to the trace method on Nov 14. Handwritten Notes.
